It was a superb morning with perfect weather. Oue softball warriors stood on the field knowing they were fighting against the best, they knew the chances of winning a team of such calibre were slim, but they stayed and fought.. real hard.
During the 1st round, ohmers displayed perserverance liken to that of 300 spartans against the formidable persians, holding our opponents at bay and preventing them from gaining advantage. Knowing that they could not defeat their superior opponents with fancy home runs or brilliant tactics, they sticked to traditional methods and slowly edge over them. Throughout the game, our veteran player, Alex Lim, kept the team's morale high with comforting 'pats on the back' and warcry-like chants of 'Goodeye!'. With a near score of 7-5, hall 3 was temporarily suppressed by our warriors' excellent play.
The turn of the tides came in the 2nd part of the match. Hall 3, having done intensive training and rigorous mental preparations, began to regain their form and fought back.
When it was the opponents turn to bat and ours to pitch, all eyes were on David Tham, the captain and the only hope left for the team. David, our sole pitcher, not unexpectedly fought back with a devilish pace.
With each surgical strike, the referee announced repeatedly "Strike 1!", "Strike 2!", Strike 3! You're out!" sending the opposing players after players off the pitch.
However, the day was not ours to call victory. Ohmers suffered a painful defeat in this round. Regardless of the intial 1st half advantage and and an excellent pitching, the points lost from our fatigued players during batting was too much to recover from.
Although defeated with a score of 13-8, our players left the pitch smiling with pride, for they knew that this day, they fought with incredible spirit.
