The Hall 16 team was a myriad of players, from a tall Goal Shooter to their petite Goal Attack. They also appeared to be tactically well-equipped, possessing somewhat like a limitless bag of tricks from a magician. They made their presence ostensible on court, shouting across the court endless words of encouragement to their teammates and occasionally, intriguing tactical cues. Our relatively inexperienced girls were overwhelmed initially, but nevertheless, fought their way through the game. The first quarter was mostly centred in Hall 16’s attacking ground, as Hall 4 suffered a goal drought. It was only in the second quarter that Hall 4’s defense started to acclimatize to Hall 16’s aggressive style of attack to bring the ball into our net.
The heat rose in the second half of the game, as Hall 4 fought harder; successfully increasing their ball possession and acquiring better control over the game. It is indeed heartening to watch our girls beef up their defense, creating more chances for themselves as the game moved on. The girls never once gave up, despite awareness that there was already an almost irreconcilable point difference with the limited amount of time left.
In all, the Hall 4 netball team demonstrated tremendous resilience, fought hard and had made best use of their chances. The score was 4-15, a defeat that sent us out of the Inter Hall games, but nevertheless, this final game was a challenging and satisfying experience for all of the girls.
