Great Start For Our Volleyballers...

We kicked off the Inter-Hall Games this year with the volleyball matches for both the guys and girls. The girls' match against Hall 10 began in the morning, all bright and sunny at the Hall 2 court and it was indeed a neck to neck battle. With non-experienced players on the court...winning the game was initially believed to be an uphill task. Hall 10 on the other hand had at least 2 experienced players in the team. However, that being the case did not prevent our hall girls from giving their best shot and fighting for every ball that came over the net. The first set saw the points difference between the two teams no more than 2..and the girl's determination led to the first set victory of 26-24. The opponents were more focused in the second set, leading the game all the way. It was evident that our girls were a little stressed by the score. They were down 5 points 18-23, but it was Huisin's service that brought hope to our hall at the very last moment, and left the opponents perpetually stunned with the second set victory of 25-23. Hurray!

The guys team also had a nail-biting first set with the opponents from Hall 15. The match was played in the evening at the SRC Indoor Court as it was still raining...think the weather will be like tat for the whole of dec. Both teams began the set shakily, with many service and enforced errors, probably due to conditioning of the court. Hence, it was a tough set, but we managed to pull through with a score of 28-26. Phew. Fortunately we got our grove back..seizing the opportunity while our opponents were still slightly disorganised. I think the whole mood of the game was about enjoying it rather than stressing over faults and miscommunication..and that spirit allowed us to win the second set comfortably 25-13 with Jevon's aces rounding up the match, thus, making it a sweet double victory for the first day of competition. Though there's still lots of room for improvement, but all in all well done Hall 4 Volleyballers and all the best for the next game on the 22nd! :)
