In a little shelter that is Nanyang House, oblivious to the natural elements save for the travel to and from the place, Hall 4 played their group matches against Hall 10 and 6 through the day.
It was a day summed up by early leads being eroded gradually by the opposition, and at times, players were ahead by the mere skin of their teeth, although it has to be said that the possession of a lead swung back and forth, fickle like a girl in the GSS.
Our snooker manager, Ken Yee, played a match to remember in the history books. His persistence was apparent for all that were present.
Many thanks to Zhi Wen, for making himself available at the 11th hour to participate in the 4-ball event, lending his experience garnered from previous IH games.
Appreciation goes out to Alex Lim, who jetted straight from his just-concluded IH badminton game to aid us.
Yong Hsin, unfortunately, came up against an IVP player, but nevertheless fought right until time was called, despite what seemed like an insurmountable mathematical lead which his opponent had amassed during the frame.
Today proved to be a baptism of fire for our snooker team. As many were freshies, our dearth of experience was exposed by the opposition, who had the luxury of fielding IVP players in their ranks.
The day may not have presented us with much success, and though victory was not ours to savour, we took with us valuable experience, for it was a first competitive match for many of our players. The Hall 4 spirit burned strong in all the players, and what they lacked in outright ability, they more than made up for in a fighting spirit that we can all be proud of.
